![]() ![]() ![]() When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,Ģ8 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:Ģ9 "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace."ġ6 So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in a manger.ġ7 And when they saw it, they made known what had been told them concerning this Childġ8 And all who heard it were astounded and marveled at what the shepherds told them.ġ9 But Mary was keeping within herself all these things (sayings), weighing and pondering them in her heart.Ģ0 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, just as it had been told them.Ģ1 And at the end of eight days, when was to be circumcised, He was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.Ģ2 And when the time for their purification came according to the Law of Moses, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord- Ģ3 As it is written in the Law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be set apart and dedicated and called holy to the Lord- Ģ4 And to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons. ![]() ![]() He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.Ģ6 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Messiah.Ģ7 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.ġ7 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this childġ8 And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.ġ9 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.Ģ0 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.Ģ1 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.Ģ2 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the LordĢ3 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"),Ģ4 And to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."Ģ5 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. ![]()
